Want to be part of the excitement of a marathon, but would prefer not to run the full 26.2 miles? You can! Find a few friends and form a marathon relay team. Relay teams may have either 2 or 4 members, and may be all male, all female or mixed gender. The 4 legs of the relay will vary in distance, but each is about 6.5 miles. The La Crosse Marathon Relay will be held on Sunday May 2, 2010, as a running event in the La Crosse Fitness Festival.
Time
The Marathon Relay will start at 7:30AM sharp from the same location as the Marathon and the Half-Marathon (Pettibone Park).
The Course
The Marathon Relay will begin near the entrance to Pettibone Park with the Marathon and the Half-Marathon and follow the Marathon course to the finish in Myrick Park close to the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. The first relay exchange will take place at the Diocese of La Crosse athletic fields on East Avenue (at about 6.25 miles); the second exchange will take place just past Myrick Park on La Crosse Street (at about 13.2 miles); the third exchange will take place in the City of Onalaska near Onalaska High School on Wilson Street (at about 20 miles). Each relay transition point will be identifiable by a banner and volunteers.
